September’s Big Tech calendar is packed with events that could give options traders plenty to watch.

In a new analysis, Investing.com highlights a series of potential volatility catalysts involving Apple, Nvidia, Alphabet, Microsoft, Salesforce, Meta and other major technology companies. The calendar stretches from Apple’s September product event through semiconductor and AI conferences, Dreamforce and Meta Connect.

For Apple, however, the options market isn’t necessarily pricing fireworks.

Ahead of Apple’s September 9 product event, Investing.com cited data from Option Research & Technology Services showing AAPL trading with approximately 26% implied volatility.

ORATS’ September 8 end-of-day data shows 30-day implied volatility at 26.03%, closely matching the figure cited by Investing.com. Apple’s 20-day ex-earnings implied volatility stood at 25.31% at the same snapshot.

At approximately 26% annualized implied volatility, the options market was pricing roughly a 1.6% one-standard-deviation daily move in Apple shares. Investing.com similarly characterized the 26% implied volatility reading as broadly equivalent to a 1.6% daily stock-price change.

That provides useful context heading into one of the month’s most closely watched technology events. A major corporate event can attract significant attention without the options market necessarily pricing an equally dramatic move in the underlying stock.

A Busy Month Beyond Apple

Apple is only one part of September’s technology calendar.

Investing.com also points to Nvidia’s scheduled appearances at several technology and AI events during the month. Nvidia is participating in the Goldman Sachs Communacopia Technology Conference alongside other semiconductor companies including ASML, AMD, KLA and Broadcom. Alphabet and Microsoft are also represented at the conference.

Nvidia has additional September appearances on the calendar, including All In 2026 and NVIDIA AI Day Singapore. Later in the month, Salesforce’s Dreamforce and Meta Connect add more potential catalysts before attention begins shifting toward the next earnings season.

For options traders, the busy schedule provides another reason to watch how implied volatility changes across individual stocks and expirations as events approach.

Putting Event Volatility in Context

Scheduled corporate events can create uncertainty, but the prominence of an event does not by itself tell traders how much movement the options market is pricing.

ORATS options analytics give traders tools to examine implied volatility, historical volatility, term structure, skew, expected moves and other measures across individual stocks and expirations.

In Apple’s case, the approximately 26% implied volatility figure cited by Investing.com provides a snapshot of what the options market was pricing heading into the company’s September event.

As new information arrives throughout a catalyst-heavy month, those expectations can change. Tracking options pricing alongside the event calendar provides additional context for understanding how the market is pricing uncertainty.
